The story of Gliding at Woodford 2

The Avro Gliding Clubs opening meeting was on Sunday 17th May 1953 with the Picture on the front page of the Avro News.

(Monochrome Photograph) - Lined up into wind outside the hangars at Woodford is the gliding club's "new baby" the Swallow. Members are preparing it for its third flight. Full of anticipation in the cockpit is pilot Bob Warburton.

Its Club activities were a regular feature of the Avro News with the membership also open to any members of the Avro workers. Flying was stopped in 1989.
