Miscellaneous Projects undertaken at Woodford AVRO 696 Shackleton AEW2

Avro 696 Shackleton MR2 phase 3 WL745 returned to Woodford on 18th March 1970 for basic cruise performance trials as a datum before
conversion to the AEW2 Prototype could begin. The conversion involved stripping out the existing interior, removal of the ASV Mk21 Scanner and moving a bulkhead back into a portion of the bomb bay. New fitments included the AN/APS 20 Scanner. Interior changes including re-arranging of the Tactical Crew Stations.
WL745 First Flew after conversion on 30th Sept 1971 and departed for acceptance at Boscombe Down on 5th April 1972.
