HS801 MR1 Nimrod Bomb Bay & Munitions

A normal "war load", was 6 torpedo (Mks 44/46 (later Stingray) on front 2 stations, and 2 B57 Nuclear Depth Charges (see top left) on the rearmost station. The remaining bomb bay stations were left empty. The S.A.R. load was 3 Life raft Containers on stations 1 & 2.

These were linked together. Stations 3 & 4 carried a central Life raft container flanked by 2 supply containers linked together on the carrier. Station 6 & 6A carried a total of 18 Recce Flares, until the incident at St Mawgan, and then again after they were cleared for carriage. There were of course multiple variations from these standard configurations as the example (see top left) with a mixture of Sonabuoy's & Torpedo's.

Wing Pylon Munitions anticipated to be carried included Martel & the Nord SS11 & AS12. Up to the time of the Falklands Crisis wing pylons where generally not used. (for additional information refer to the board on the Falklands).
