HS 780 Andover C1
The production aircraft were designated as the HS780 Andover C1 and
had the distinctive high tail, a significantly strengthened floor, kneeling
undercarriage and more powerful RR Dart 12 engines than the standard
748. Above is the HS780 Andover Production Line at Woodford in 1966.
In total 31 Production HS780 Aircraft where ordered by the Royal Air
Force and delivered between 1966 and 1968.
The Andover was not the only Military Variant of the 748 to be produced. The introduction of a large opening freight door in the rear port side fuselage was selected by numerous air forces in a variety of roles including para-drop and casualty evacuation.
