Here at Woodford in parallel with the conversion of returning Nimrods for Flight Refuelling were modification and trials to arm the Nimrods with Sidewinder missiles as the aircraft with flight refuelling capability came closer within Argentinian fighter range.

Also in Parallel, modification were also being undertaken at Woodford to allow the Nimrod bomb bay to accept the Harpoon air to Surface missiles as can be seen by the oblong shaped cut outs on the inside of the Bomb Doors.

Nimrod MR2 complete with Flight Refuelling and Sidewinders. Note the small dorsal fin along the tail centre line which was made of wood to give better stability following the probe installation.
