Avro Lancaster - Women at War (1)

During the Second World War, the Avro workforce was supplemented by an influx of very capable local women workers in every aspect of Lancaster Production at Chadderton:

In the Chadderton Drawing Office women were employed as tracers, ensuring the quality of the production drawings was maintained for the transfer of sub-master drawings to every production facility.

This section of the Chadderton Machine Shop is entirely staffed with women workers. The ladies in the white coats and armbands are Inspectors.
