Drive It Day 2016

Sunday the 24th April was ‘DRIVE IT DAY 2016’ *

It may have been cold and wet but that did not deter dozens of classic enthusiasts and owners from descending onto the museum and having a thoroughly good day!

What a day it’s been! Our first guests started to arrive from half nine and at one point the car park was full to bursting!

Today has also been a record breaking day for the museum with attendances peaking at 225+! We can’t thank you all enough and thank you for choosing to beat the elements and making us your destination of choice!

Thank you also to the Hare and Hounds Car Club and The MG Club for coming also!

A view of the car park looking like a throwback to the old days.

When it would have been like this.

Tomorrow work begins to cover our ‘Lady in White’, Vulcan XM603, ready for her refurbishment. While the scaffolding is erected access to the rear outside of the Museum will be restricted. Once she is under cover work in a week or so she will be viewable through windows in the cover.

We’ll be revealing her in her full glory this Summer – keep an eye open for regular updates on her progress!

* The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs ® ‘Drive It Day’ takes place every year to help raise awareness of the large and important extent of the classic vehicle movement in the UK. It is also an ideal opportunity to raise funds for both local and industry related charities.
